Fashion at center of event - Lunch included raffle and silent auction

In a season full of surprises, this one was special.

Imagine eighth-grade boys actually having fun, dancing with “attitude” (and with girls!) to “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree” before an audience of 860 supporters of Sacred Heart School’s 13th annual fashion luncheon.

Imagine two fashion shows at once - beautiful adult models in gorgeous fashions by renowned designer Kevan Hall, alternating struts with rambunctious students in children’s fashions from Kids Wiz.

Imagine the joy of committee chairs Cindi Farrell, Betty Fernandez and Julie Ann Remirez when they saw that their bold move (changing their event from spring to December) was working - big time!

A huge raffle plus live and silent auctions inspired many bidding frenzies, but a sparkling pendant featuring the Sacred Heart school logo in white-gold and diamonds, stole the show. Donated by Gary Smitson of Elegante Jewelry Mfg. Co., the bidding quickly climbed to $1,400, stalled, then reignited, and finally sold - to loud applause - for $3,700, thanks to hard-working auctioneers (and TV personalities) Jennifer Daniels and Matt Johnson.

The program opened with “We Wish you a Merry Christmas” by the Sacred Heart Show Choir, decked out with red tinsel in their hair, and a blessing by principal Jim Brennan. An excellent lunch by the Esmeralda was accompanied by a big-screen video montage of students at work and play.

The Kevan Hall 2008 spring collection expressed the sense of sophisticated elegance and uncluttered modern design that has made him a favorite with the red carpet and TV crowd. Hall with his wife and business partner Deborah were both in attendance, overseeing every detail of the show.
