TOKYO — Though always prepared to strike out on its own quirky path, Tokyo fashion also often gives a passing nod to European influences. Both sides have been on full display during the first two days of Japan Fashion Week, which kicked off Monday.

However, much of the buzz in Tokyo isn’t centered around the runway.
