Japan Fashion Week Shows Quirky and Derivative

TOKYO — Though always prepared to strike out on its own quirky path, Tokyo fashion also often gives a passing nod to European influences. Both sides have been on full display during the first two days of Japan Fashion Week, which kicked off Monday.
However, much of the buzz in Tokyo isn’t centered around the runway. On Tuesday night, Dior Homme designer Kris Assche hosted a party at chic club Le Baron de Paris to fete the opening of an exhibit featuring Nan Goldin’s photos of the last Dior Homme show and its peripheral activity.
